Chuck’s family settled in Alachua County in 1823, he is a fourth-generation Floridian, and a native of House District 21. Chuck understands the needs of the community from firsthand experience. He is a graduate of Santa Fe High School, a first-generation college graduate, earning his Associate’s Degree from Florida Gateway College, his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Florida. Chuck worked two jobs to pay his way through college, which taught him the value and the importance of education.
Since Chuck was elected as State Representative for District 21 in 2016, representing Dixie, Gilchrist and part of Alachua county, he has fought to create jobs, invest in education, defend our freedoms, and preserve our environment. Representative Clemons also serves on the Children, Families, and Seniors Subcommittee, and State Affairs Committee.
Chuck served as an Alachua County Commissioner from 1996-2000. He was instrumental in recruiting the Dollar General Distribution Center to the City of Alachua which created approximately 500 jobs in our district. He was a co-founder of Bikers on Parade for the U.S.A, raising over $500,00 for the American Red Cross and various veteran causes.
In 2001, President George W. Bush appointed Chuck to serve as the State Director of USDA Rural Development. During his tenure, he led efforts to streamline the agency, improve service, enhance program effectiveness, increase efficiency, and eliminate waste.
